The Healing Process

The Healing Process

As you begin to eat living foods and juices and add exercise to your daily living habits, you can expect changes to take place in your body. Your body is currently acidic if you are on the standard Western type of diet.  As these changes begin to take place you may well become confused.  You have decided to take control of your health, so that you can feel better and yet to begin with you may very probably begin to feel worse.  If you do be encouraged because these are a very positive sign that your body is starting to clean house and is on its way to improvement.  The purpose of this article is for you to understand what is taking place so that there are no surprises.

Remarkable things begin to happen to the body as well as the mind when we give our body’s healthy food and proper exercise. The amazing intelligence and wisdom present in every cell begin to manifest immediately. When the quality of the food entering the body is higher than that of the tissues, the body begins to discard the lower grade materials to make room for the superior materials, which it uses to make new and healthier tissue. The body is very selective and always aims for improvement, resulting in better health.

What, then, are the symptoms or signs that we might expect when we begin to omit lower grade foods and stimulants and instead introduce healthy foods?  When toxic stimulants such as coffee, tea, chocolate or cocoa are suddenly stopped, headaches are common and a letdown occurs. This is due to the body discarding toxins called caffeine and the bromine, which are removed from the tissues and transported through the blood stream. Before the noxious agents reach their final destination for elimination, these irritants register in our consciousness as pain -in other words, headache. The let-down is due to the slower action of the heart -the resting phase follows the more rapid heart, stimulated heart action, while definitely more healthy, may be experienced as depression and last for 3 to IO days. Then the symptoms vanish and we feel stronger.

To a lesser extent, the same process occurs when we abandon lower quality foods and replace them with higher quality foods. Lower quality foods -those with additives, spices, salt, and preservatives; tend to be more stimulating than those less prepared and more natural. Likewise, animal foods such as meat are more stimulating than cheese, nuts and vegetable proteins. Consequently, the withdrawal of stimulation that follows the change in diet toward more natural foods produces a slower resting phase for the heart; this registers in the mind as relaxation of a decrease in energy. This initial let-down lasts about ten days or slightly longer, and is followed by an increase of strength, a feeling of diminishing stress and a sense of greater well-being.

After continuing with an improved dietary regimen for any length of time, one may expect to experience "retracing." The cellular intelligence says something like, "Oh! Look at all those fine building materials coming in.  Now we have a chance to get rid of this old garbage and build a beautiful new house.  Let's get this excess bile out of the liver and gallbladder and send it to the intestines for elimination.  Let's get this sludge moving out of the arteries, veins and capillaries. These smelly, gassy, brain-stupefying masses have been here too long, out with them!  These arthritic deposits in the joints need to be cleaned up.  Let's get these irritating food preservatives, aspirins and drugs out of the way, along with these other masses of fat that have made life so burdensome for us for so long. Let's get going and keep going until the job is done -until we have a beautiful house."

During the first phase the accent is on elimination, or breaking down, of tissue.  The body begins to remove the garbage deposited in all the tissues. As wastes are rapidly discarded, frequent bowel movements, often foul smelling or toxic (hot) may be experienced.

The second phase begins when the amount of waste material being discarded is equal to the amount of new tissues being formed; the old you is replaced by the newer, more vital nutrients you are taking in.

The third phase is a build-up period, much of the interfering waste has already been discarded, and the tissues that were formed since the diet was raised in quality are more durable. Also, new tissues are now being formed faster due to the improved assimilation of nutrients. The body's need for the usual amounts of food decreases, and we are able to maintain our weight with less food.

During this process of rebuilding, one should experience "Healing Crisis" occasionally, and should see them as an encouraging sign.  This is a crucial phase toward health and should not be interfered with.  As the body gains in strength, it will occasionally clean house with a vengeance. The symptoms will vary according to the materials being discarded, the conditions of the organs involved in the elimination, and the amount of energy you have available.  Headaches may occur at the beginning; fever and/or colds also may occur.  The skin may break out.  There may be a short interval of bowel sluggishness or diarrhea.  Feelings of tiredness and weakness, disinclination to exercise, nervousness, irritability and depression are all common. Be happy you are having these symptoms.

The more rest you give yourself and your digestive system, the more quickly the symptoms will be alleviated, and the more beneficial the healing crisis will be.  Further, if you will cleanse the colon using enemas, the process will be accelerated and your symptoms greatly lessened.  Realize that your body is becoming younger and healthier because you are throwing off more and more wastes that eventually would have brought pain, disease and suffering. These toxins are being discarded to save you from more serious diseases that might have resulted if you had kept them in your body, possibly kidney disorders, hepatitis, blood disease, heart disease or tumors.  Be happy you are paying your bill now in a less costly method.

This is nature's way of cleaning house.  Understand that these actions are constructive even though the symptoms may be unpleasant.  Don't try to stop the symptoms by the use of drugs. These symptoms are part of the healing process and not allergic manifestations or symptoms that should be suppressed.  Don't try to cure a cure.
